Social Media / Events Coordinator Wanted

‚Äč Pedestrian Safety Advocate is seeking a
Social Media / Events Coordinator.

$100.00 per month, set your own hours

I am a vision impaired Disabled Veteran and Pedestrian Safety Advocate.

Since 2003, I have been advocating for Pedestrian Safety changes on Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota, Florida.

I am looking for someone who can help me with Social Media (Facebook and YouTube) and Events Coordinator. I have a WebPage (www.pedestriansmatter.org) and a Facebook Page.  I want someone who can manage the Facebook Page and plan a Monthly Bike Ride.  Applicants should have experience in Social Media and be willing to participate and organize a monthly Bike Ride.

Please send email to Jeff Redding, tell me about yourself and your contact information.

The Ride (perhaps the 1st Saturday of every month at 3pm) would start at Bee Ridge Road and Beneva Avenue and would go East on Bee Ridge to Cattlemen Road ending at the Publix parking lot.

Cyclists shall ride in the Right Lane of the road in accordance with  Florida State Law.  It would be nice to have at lease 20 riders for the first ride.  Things to consider; having a car with hazard lights on, follow directly behind the riders, inform the Sheriff and News Media prior to ride, purchase T-Shirts for the riders.

"When a lane is too narrow for a bicycle and a car to share safely, the cyclist is entitled to the use of the entire lane. Within this lane, the cyclist usually rides on the right half to facilitate visibility for overtaking motorists, but should ride far enough left to discourage motorists from trying to squeeze past within the lane.If there is no shoulder or bicycle lane and the traffic lane is narrow, ride closer to the center of the lane."

This Legal Ride may upset motorist and cause traffic delays.  Hopefully it will bring attention to the fact that  the FDOT has obstructed the sidewalk and built unsafe Unmarked Mid-Block Crosswalks on this High Traffic High Speed Road.

All riders are encourage to wear Helmets and must obey all traffic laws.
